Trapani, Concierge Collection: Erice & Cooking Class at Molino Excelsior
The tour will start with a guided visit to Erice. You'll explore this medieval town and wander the winding cobbled streets.  Visit the Mother Church that’s stood here for over 700 years, and admire the Castle of Venus where the son of Athena, goddess of love, built a temple in his mother's honor. But save some sighs for the gorgeous Balio Gardens in all their rainbow bright glory where you will have free time at your leisure. Then, it’s on to meet a professional Sicilian chef for your cooking demonstration. There are three dishes on the agenda today – fish couscous, caponata (a Sicilian vegetable dish), and bruschetta alla trapanese (bruschetta topped with pesto). You will receive a certificate at the end of the class, and then it’s time to enjoy your creations.

Please note: Comfortable walking shoes, hat, and sunscreen are recommended. Proper attire that covers shoulders and knees is recommended for both men and women for visits to the religious venue. This tour is not suitable for those with walking difficulties or in a wheelchair because of the many stairs and slopes to climb.

Trapani, Erice
To see the best of Sicily, you have to climb to great heights. And on this trip you’ll do exactly that. After a 45-minute coach drive to the cable station, you’ll take the cable car up to the top of a mountain. Take in the view out over the Trapani Salt Pans, the turquoise sea and all the way to the Egadi Islands – it’s breathtaking. While you’re up here, you’ll explore the medieval town that is Erice. Wander the winding cobbled streets, visit the Mother Church that’s stood there for over 700 years, and admire the Castle of Venus where the son of Athena, goddess of love, built a temple in his mother’s honor. And save some sighs for the gorgeous Balio Gardens in all their rainbow bright glory. Last, but not least, you’ll have time to enjoy the atmosphere in Erice’s tiny plaza, before you take the cable car back down to your waiting ship.

Please note: The shops are open from 9:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., and closed on Sunday. If the cable car cannot be used for operational reasons, a coach will be used instead.  Knees and shoulders must be covered when visiting any religious sites in Italy and since Erice is 2,467 feet above sea level, and generally chillier than Trapani it is recommended you bring a sweater or light jacket. This tour is not suitable for those with walking difficulties.

Trapani, Walking Tour with Sicilian Coffee Break
Trapani is an attractive old port town, rediscovering its charms after years of neglect. Halfway between Europe and Tunis, it was a rich trading center throughout the early Middle Ages, then, flourished again in the 19th and early 20th centuries as a stronghold of the tuna-canning industry. After that, it went into decline, and became a salty old port. Then, it was selected to host the 2004 America’s Cup and received a massive injection of cash – buildings were restored, streets in the historic center pedestrianized – giving the town and its people a new confidence. These days Trapani is a thoroughly pleasant place to hang out for a couple of days. You will join your guide for a pleasant walking visit of the historical center of Trapani, with its many churches and palazzos with their ornate façades and elaborate interior, perfect examples of the Baroque style. At the end of the guided visit, enjoy a typical Sicilian coffee break including one cannolo and one coffee or one cappuccino, followed by 45 minute free time. At the conclusion of your tour you can leisurely walk back to the pier with your guide or continue to spend time in town returning to the ship on your own.

Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. Proper attire that covers shoulders and knees is required for both men and women to enter religious venues. This tour is not suitable for those with walking difficulties because of the many stairs and slopes to climb.

You will have free time to visit the “Teatro Antico” (the entrance fee is not included in the fare), or for a nice walk along Corso Umberto, the main street of Taormina, a continuous line of squares and palaces of the 15-19th century, with antique and modern shops, flower-filled balconies, cafés, restaurants and a pastry shop with marzipan fruit.

Messina, Taormina & Blue Grotto by Boat
This tour will give you the opportunity to visit the resort town of Taormina, considered  one of the most beautiful destinations in Sicily and to visit the garden of Villa Comunale,  that offers one of the most beautiful views of the town. The  excursion will begin with a short journey by minibus to Taormina.  Leave your minibus  near the center of Taormina, and set out on foot as your guide will lead you along cobblestone streets to the Palazzo Corvaja, a 15th century building adorned with classic double windows. From there it is a short walk to the amazing and impressive Greco-Roman Theatre that is Taormina's iconic landmark. Like the town, the theatre dates back to the 3rd century B.C. The Greeks did an incredible job of siting it-its width and acoustic qualities are so inimitable that it still used for open-air concerts today. The Romans, who came later, did some work on the theatre but even they were unable to vastly improve on the original. Explore the theatre, and make sure you turn around and appreciate the astounding view of Mount Etna looming above the town and the Bay of Naxos below. Once the guided visit is done, spend some free time independently exploring Taormina’s main street, Corso Umberto. By bus you will reach the port of Giardini Naxos , board a boat and motor out into the bay. Your destination will be the fabled Blue Grotto. Glide slowly into this sea cave to witness the famed blue glow that reflects off the water. Afterwards, snack on fresh almond cookies and enjoy the scenic cruise back to the pier.

Please note:  Bring a bottle of water, hat, sunscreen, and local currency. Please wear your swim suit under your clothing as no change facility is available.

Corfu, Paleokastritsa & Boat Trip
This tour visits Paleokastritsa, the area of unique natural beauty on the northwestern shores of Corfu. It is known as the “Capri of Greece” for its rocky promontories cloaked in pine and cypress trees extending out into the sea, hiding small sandy bays and coves with crystal clear turquoise waters glimmering under the bright sun. In Paleokastritsa, you will take a 30-minute boat ride to the famous grottos of the area, the sea caves of “Nafsika,” “Saint Nikolas,” and the “Blue Eye.” Here, the natural ground formations combined with the minerals in the ground and the natural sunlight give life to amazing forms, colors and optical illusions. Upon your return to the main beach, you have free time to enjoy a refreshing dive in the turquoise waters, sunbathe on the soft sand or beach walk, before boarding the coach for the drive uphill to the traditional village of Lakones. You will be driving up the very same serpentine-like, narrow road where the famous car chase in the James Bond movie “For your Eyes only” was filmed.  In the village of Lakones, you can admire local village architecture more reminiscent of Italy than of typical Greek villages, before enjoying a “meze” (Greek snack) and tasting wines of the island at the local café at the “Bella Vista,” a location known for the spectacular and breathtaking views it commands over Paleokastritsa.

Please note: The trip to the caves is subject to sea and weather conditions.

The monastery bears the name of a local hermit, the Blessed Loukas (Ossios Loukas) of Stiri, who was famed for his austerity, the dignity of his life, his prophecies and the miraculous cures he performed. Departing the monastery your tour will return to the port via the town of Arachova, famous for its handmade woolen carpets.
