From Rovinj you will travel by coach on a 60-minute drive to Motovun, a hilltop town that has preserved its medieval ambiance in its narrow streets within the town walls, preserved in their entire length. Walk along Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance buildings to the main square dominated by the 13th century belfry of St. Stephen's Church. Free time in Motovun is followed by a scenic uphill drive to the village of Vrh. You will enjoy the view of the surrounding deep valleys, proud towers, vineyards, hilltops, and beautiful Mount Ucka. Board your coach for the 45-minute drive to one of the best known resort towns in Croatia – Porec. By international standards, Porec is a cultural and historical jewel. Porec features two main intersecting streets, Cardo and Decumanus, which even today remain the backbone of the Old Town. Visit the Episcopal complex of the Euphrasian Basilica built in the 6th century and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marafor, the oldest part of the town, still boasts the remains of two Roman temples. See the House of Two Saints, the Istrian Parliament Building, and the Leoni and Zuccato Palaces. You will have some free time to explore this charming little town on your own. Next you’ll have a short drive through the countryside to the village of Sveti Lovrec, where you visit the wine cellar of the Matosevic Family – one of the most well-known Croatian Wine Producers. This protected area stretches from St. John’s Cape to Barbariga and encompasses all 20 Rovinj islands and islets and the coastal area. Lim Fjord is one of the most beautiful natural sites in Istria and represents a sunken canyon valley in karst. It is one of the most beautiful fjords outside Norway offering many hidden sports to the ones coming to visit. The water in the fjord is less transparent and less salty than the open sea due to many springs, and the temperatures of the water in the fjord fluctuate. The water here also contains a large amount of plankton and oxygen so it provides abundant flora and fauna. The area is a natural hatching site for many fish species but is known for its oysters which even impressed Anthony Bourdain. The best way to visit Rovinj Archipelago and Lim Fjord is by boat, so join this adventure and see the beauties from a different perspective while trying the tasty shellfish of this region.

Board your coach for the 45-minute drive to Pula, a UNESCO World Heritage Site best known for its many surviving ancient Roman buildings, the most famous of which is its 1st century amphitheater. Known locally as the Arena, it is the sixth largest amphitheater in the world and is still in use today for summer film festivals. Continue your walking tour with visits to other notable and well preserved ancient Roman structures including the Sergius Arch and the temple to the God Apollo, built in the honor of the 1st century Roman emperor Caesar Augustus. Among other sites you will visit are the Roman city gates and walls and a Byzantine chapel. Head by motor coach to the nearby village of Vodnjan for olive oil tasting. Family Farm Chiavalon specializes in growing olives and producing top quality extra virgin olive oils. Depart Split by motor coach to Klis and the Stella Croatica Ethno Village, a family run producer of traditional Dalmatian delicacies. Begin with a walk through the orchard and olive grove along a winding stone path through the middle of a garden and further through Aroma Park, rich with aromatic herbs and spices specific to Dalmatia. You will be served a welcome drink of liquor made from cherries while your hostess explains the elements of the stone village there. You will see the old way of life, unit by unit; fireplace, wine cellar, sleeping room. You will see basic parts of the houses with all the furniture and equipment that was used in them. After free time for exploring, the bread preparing demonstration begins. Then you will learn more about olive oil and its benefits and how to recognize a good olive oil. You will taste two types of oil - extra virgin olive oil and oil obtained by pressing together olive fruit and whole lemons. You will see the practices and traditional ways of preparing Dalmatian desserts. All products are made by hand and according to old recipes with particular attention paid to the quality and nutritional value. Leaving the town of Split, you will take a 75-minute drive by coach to the famous Krka River Waterfalls. Located in lovely Krka National Park, the falls cascade over 17 natural barriers. Krka is one of the seven National Parks in Croatia and was formed to protect the Krka River. The whole area is rich with endemic species - vegetation as well as birds and fish. This tour will take you to the most attractive part of the park – the Skradinski Buk Waterfalls. The highest waterfall is 151 feet high which makes it the highest gypsum barrier in Europe. Above the falls there is a large plateau that offers spectacular views of the area. Your guided visit to the park will include a small ethnological exhibit and the old mill which is still in use.There is a path around the falls and you will have two hours of free time to explore before your 75-minute drive back to Split.

Please note: The national park terrain is narrow and rough at times and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring your bathing suit as there will be an opportunity to cool off in the water if you choose.

You will board your motor coach for the 90-minute drive to Pnsici Village and the Cetina River. For thousands of years the Cetina River has been crafting a beautiful canyon, creating miraculous forms in the stone of its riverbed. This crystal-clear river with a temperature pleasant enough for swimming, offers a true untouched nature experience. The 590-foot cliffs, cascades, lakes, underground tunnels and the 131-foot-high Gubavica Waterfall are on the agenda today. There are peaceful waters as well as Class I and II rapids interspersed during the approximately 3 – 3 ½ -hour rafting adventure. After a lot of excitement you will arrive at the Radmanove Mlinice restaurant where you will have some refreshments and enjoy a nice lunch. After lunch you will have a 45-minute drive back to Split.

Please note: Depending on the water level and with safety in mind one small section of the river may be redirected to walking. Take a thrilling boat ride to visit the past and see beauty of the sea during this half-day outing. Departing the pier, begin your tour with a fast inflatable boat ride along the Split Riviera towards the Town of Trogir, situated on a small island squeezed in between the mainland and the larger island of Ciovo. The tiny island is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Except for the green parks, the entire island is occupied by spectacular constructions of stone-houses, palaces, churches, monasteries, towers, walls etc. The streets are narrow and they truly give a feel of how life may have been in the past. During your visit, you will see the main attraction in Trogir - the Cathedral of St. Lawrence. This 13th century building is probably the finest example of sacral architecture in Croatia. The unusual construction with three naves and three semi-circular apses dominates the whole town. Other fine buildings that will be viewed are the Town Loggia, the Town Hall, the Cipiko Palace etc. Depart Trogir on your inflatable boat toward Duga Uvala Beach at Ciovo Island. At the completion of an approximate 30-minute cruise, you will find yourself at the beautifully secluded bay with a pebble beach and crystal waters. Here, time will be afforded for swimming (approximately 2 hrs) before re-joining your boat for the cruise to a nearby Yacht Marina for a nice light lunch before going back back to Split.

The Old Town of Split is built on and around the spectacular Roman Palace erected by the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century. Your walking tour starts at the Palace where the Cathedral of St. Duje sits in the center of Split. Other sites include the Golden Gate, the Silver Gate, and the Peristyle Square. Depart Split toward “Pantan” Old Mill to enjoy local specialties (snacks of smoked ham, cheese, and olives) while a group of singers entertains you with local Dalmatian songs. A 45-minute drive will take you to Trogir, situated on a small island connected to the mainland by a bridge. You will visit the Cathedral of St. Lawrence. On this tour, you will be taken through all the parts of the Old City where some of the most memorable scenes from the ongoing cultural phenomenon, Game of Thrones, were filmed, including: The Pile Gate where King Joffrey was faced with a citizens’ riot and pelted with dung, the Lovrijenac Fort where the unsuccessful attack on King's Landing, known as the Battle of Blackwater, took place. The seemingly endless fortified walls will be seen from Lovrijenac where Tyrion Lannister and Varys took a stroll, with Tyrion uttering the immortal words: ''where is the god of tits and wine?” All of the filming locations and commentary from your local guide will be accompanied by large, A4-sized photos that show the screen-shot from the appropriate episode and what took place. See the Cathedral of St. Nicholas and other monuments including the Parish Church, the 12th century Sveti Djordje Church, and the Sveti Nikola Church, built between the 15th and 17th centuries . In a local restaurant, you’ll taste some typical sweets, made from an original recipe used during the Baroque period. Many of its narrow cobblestone streets are closed to traffic, making the main part of Taormina accessible only by foot. For those with an appreciation of "The Godfather" series, many of the places visited in this tour will seem familiar. By bus you will reach the port of Giardini Naxos , board a boat and motor out into the bay. Your destination is the fabled Blue Grotto. Glide slowly into this sea cave to witness the famed blue glow that reflects off the water. Afterwards, snack on fresh almond cookies before heading to the inviting waters off Isla Bella for a refreshing swim. Dry off and enjoy the scenic cruise back to the pier.

The city of Herculaneum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded around the 4th century B.C., copying the geometric regularity of the layout of Naples. Its “decumani” (main streets) have an east-west orientation, while the “cardines” (narrower streets) run north-south. There is undeniably a “feeling” about Herculaneum, quite different from Pompeii, where you get the impression that its ancient population of 5,000 packed up and left only moments ago. Herculaneum was smaller than Pompeii but is better preserved simply because, while hot ashes consumed the wood of Pompeii’s buildings, Herculaneum was covered by hot mud which sealed and protected entire city blocks. This means that marble floors, mosaics, paintings and carbonized woods can still be admired today. Bastia was founded by the Genoese in 1380, when they were looking for a naturally sheltered port to replace the ancient Roman city of Mariana and Biguglia (which had been destroyed by the Corsicans in 1372). They needed a city and port which could assure the contact between their “Homeland” and their “colony”. Even if this small port was swept by terrible winds, it was protected by a rock, easily defensible, and upon which a dungeon (or bastiglia) was built- and hence the name of the town Bastia. Your journey from Bastia will lead inland to Oletta – a small village terraced up the hillside, and from where there is a lovely view of Saint Florent and over the countryside of olive groves, vineyards, and pastures – small squares of property delimited by dry stone walls. Then the road climbs up to the San Stefano Pass, through chestnut and olive groves, and from there is a spectacular panorama down to the east coast and the Biguglia “étang” (pool) and in the other direction, across the Agriates Desert and the sea at Saint Florent. You will climb a sinuous, narrow road, up to the Teghime Pass, where at an altitude of 1,759 feet ( 536M), the views are completely different in each direction. Your motor coach will take you to Monaco Rock where elevators and escalators transport you up to the Old City. Take a guided walking tour up the hill and through the narrow streets, past the Oceanographic Museum, and the Cathedral containing the tomb of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier. Visit the interior of the Prince's Palace followed by some free time to explore further on your own. Next, you will descend from the rock and drive on a small part of the Grand Prix circuit on your way to Casino Square. Your final stop is Monte Carlo, where you will first walk along the Formula 1® circuit up to Casino Square to discover the most prominent and famous building on this square - the Grand Casino, surrounded by the Hotel de Paris and the Café de Paris. You may want to stroll around the square admiring the designer boutiques, or try your luck with the slot machines at the Café de Paris Casino. Return to the pier or if you want to stay to explore more on your own, return to the ship at your leisure.

Please note: This excursion involves walking over cobblestone streets and uneven surfaces, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The walk to Casino Square is 15 minutes of steep uphill walking so not recommended for those with mobility issues. The order of sites visited may vary. The Grand Casino opens for visits only from 9 a.m. to noon. Gambling is allowed in the afternoon from 2 p.m. The entrance fee is not included (17 euros) and a passport is required for guests who wish to visit the Casino on their own in the afternoon. San Rocco is a small hamlet, settled on the top of Portofino’s National Natural Park ( Site of Community Importance) , and is the starting point of a lovely path. The walk follows the coast line and stops in front of the little church of San Nicolò Capodimonte for a short visit. Proceed then to Punta Chiappa, a rocky formation jutting out into the sea, which is also a very interesting area due to a breathtaking landscapeand this site can be reached only by path or boat, no roads, no vehicles! All around there is the coastline of Liguria, ahead Corsica, and behind on land there is the Batteria di Punta Chiappa hidden in the mountains. Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is also a National Park and Protected Marine Area. Clinging to the Ligurian cliffs on the west coast of Italy are five castles at nearly the same distance from one another - Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. Today you will see two of these sites as the ancient mariners had - from the sea. Depart from the pier heading to Cinque Terre, or five lands, and marvel as you approach the beautiful coast with villages suspended above the sea, almost defying gravity. Pass the scenic Tigullio Gulf and Poet's Gulf, with terraced vineyards alive with the aroma of olive trees blended with the fresh ocean breeze. Arrive at the village of Vernazza, where you will disembark the vessel and begin a guided walking tour of this 1st century village. Notice the richness of its architecture, which evinces a wealthier standard of living than that of other villages. Following your tour, you will have free time to browse the local shops or enjoy a cafe. Continue walking on to Santa Anna and Nozarego and finally you will arrive at the main promenade of Santa Margherita Ligure. Santa Margherita’s colors, the arrangement of its characteristic houses, its rich villas and great hotels have painted around its bay something similar to a magical reflection. Pause for refreshment at a café and then you will return to Portofino by minivan, or you may choose to remain in Santa Margherita to stroll around on your own and go back to Portofino by taxi, public ferry or public bus.

Here’s a tempting opportunity to visit charming and remote Italian coastal fishing villages that are not easily accessible other than by boat. After a 20-minute cruise, your first stop will be in the little bay of San Fruttuoso Village, the ancient residence of the Doria family. Its splendid natural surroundings are enhanced by the architectural beauty of its church and 10th century abbey. The imposing cliffs encircling the inlet, a small beach and lush Mediterranean vegetation, combined with the almost unreal absence of vehicles, creates a truly unique and enjoyable ambiance. Pause to savor the enchanting views as your boat remains in the bay for 10 minutes. Heading further up the coast you will reach Camogli, a typical small fishing village that was formerly the site of bustling shipyards that helped build one of the world’s greatest merchant fleets. Camogli’s original medieval setting was centered around a local parish church constructed on an island that was once completely detached from the mainland. Today, it is connected to the mainland by a square surrounded by colorful buildings including one of the Italian coast’s most beautiful Baroque churches. During your 1½-hour stay, there will be time for a guided tour followed by free time. Back aboard your boat, enjoy the 45-minute return cruise to Portofino.

Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes and comfortable clothes. Don't forget sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses! This tour is a more unique visit to some of the more charming and remote fishing villages in the area and offers a cultural excursion difficult to do on your own.
