Colón to Lima, Peru
Transit through the storied Panama Canal and discover some of the most unique wildlife in Ecuador. Sample succulent seafood tapas and barter for Panamanian hats along Manta's sunny waterfront. Sample some Bolon de Verde--Ecuador's delicious national dish made from crispy mashed plantains stuffed with melted cheese, bacon, and pork meat--perfectly paired with local beers. Go fishing for blue marlin or visit a wildlife refuge to see over 200 species of birds and howler monkeys. Ecuador’s largest city, Guayaquil is bustling river promenade filled with museums and shops, or trek outside the city for a mangrove ecological reserve or cocoa farm during an overnight. Step back in time with Machala’s Puyango petrified forest, holding the largest array of fossil trees and also seek out locally grown coffee and chocolate. Overnight in Lima to dine at a restaurant in the culinary capitol of South America sipping pisco sours late in the evening, to meander along the Malecon, a path that follows the coastal cliffside, and to marvel the Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Incan pyramid.
