After this enriching experience, enjoy a well-deserved lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, where nearly 10,000 American soldiers who perished at Omaha Beach rest in tribute to their sacrifice. Walking through the 170-acre site, you will see 9,386 marble crosses and Stars of David, the Tablets of the Missing, and a map detailing the battle sites of the Normandy beaches. The journey continues to Omaha Beach, where you can reflect on the immense bravery of the American forces who fought to liberate Normandy, France, and Europe. Conclude your exploration at Pointe du Hoc, a dramatic cliffside stronghold captured by Colonel Rudder's Rangers on the morning of June 6, 1944, playing a crucial role in dismantling German defenses. After this moving and historic day, relax on the approximately two-hour drive back to the pier.

After boarding the coach at the port, your scenic full-day tour begins with a 1-hour drive through the picturesque Basque countryside to San Sebastián, a charming coastal town on the Bay of Biscay and the capital of Gipuzkoa province. In this beautiful city, you'll visit key landmarks, including the late-19th-century Miramar Palace, once a summer residence for Queen Maria Cristina, and the Gothic Revival Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, completed in 1897. Your drive will also take you past the Victoria Eugenia Theatre and the elegant Hotel Maria Cristina, both inaugurated in 1912. After boarding the coach and leaving Bilbao behind, your journey takes you south to the renowned La Rioja wine region. Your first stop will be in Haro, home to the Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España winery, founded in 1879. Known for producing Rioja wines that have held the prestigious Denominación de Origen Calificada classification since 1991, this historic winery, still located near Haro’s station, will host the first wine tasting of the day. Next, you’ll visit a second family-owned winery just outside of town. After a warm welcome from the owners, you’ll tour the facility and enjoy another wine and food tasting experience. On your return journey to Bilbao, you’ll have time to relax and take in the stunning views of the scenic La Rioja landscape.
