Your motor coach and English-speaking guide will take you via the beautiful coastal road bordering the River Tagus, driving through the fashionable resort of Estoril - the home of several international royal exiles during the Second World War – to the lively scenic village of Cascais. Here you will have a guided tour around its plaza and enjoy its colorful setting of seaside café terraces, small shops, and sailboats. For six centuries Sintra was the favorite summer residence of the kings of Portugal, who were attracted by the cool climate and the lush beauty of the town’s setting. Writers and poets in general – Lord Byron, Alfred Tennyson, Hans Christian Andersen, and Isaac Bashevis Singer chose Sintra as a preferred destination. The tall conical chimneys of the National Palace and the fabulous Pena Palace, are two unmistakable landmarks of this area. Lisbon is a city of contrasts, where modern trends merge with ancient ones, accentuating Lisbon’s variety and intensity of color. You will continue along Liberty Avenue a charming old boulevard place of several international stores (such as Prada or Armani) lined with gardens and known for its unique black and white mosaics on the sidewalks on the way to Marquês de Pombal Square. The highlight of your visit is the church of the Jeronimos Monastery (outside visit only), a masterpiece of Manueline architecture, widely acknowledged to be the finest sight in Lisbon, built in the 16th century to commemorate the discoveries of Portuguese navigators. Nearby, you will see the lavishly decorated Belem Tower, and the Monument to the Discoveries, built to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the death of Prince Henry the Navigator. On the way to the hotel or to the airport, you will see, stretching across the Tagus River, the April 25th Bridge, sister to the Golden Gate, and the towering Christ the King statue on the far side.

This tour offers spectacular sea views of the Algarve coastline and its famous rock formations. You will transfer to the pier where you will board the RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) and put on your life vest. Your adventure will start by sailing east of Portimao, where you will have the opportunity to visit some of the best caves in the Algarve - the deep cave of Alfanzina and the Cape of Carvoeiro. Your route will take you west along the coast, past fine golden sands, turquoise waters, ochre cliffs and rocks sculpted into fantastic shapes. Before heading inland to Portimão, you will see a busy deep-water fishing port on river Arade, where brightly colored boats float in the bay. Your first stop will be the historical center of Lagos, its sturdy medieval walls testify to its importance in the 15th century, when shipyards built the caravels. This fascinating town played an important role during the period of the discoveries. It was from this harbor that Vasco da Gama, who discovered the maritime route to India, sailed on his epic voyage in 1499. Reminders of the past can be seen around every corner, including the site of Europe’s first slave market and the Chapel of Saint Anthony. Continue to the wild headland of Cape St Vincent, passing numerous small villages of white house’s sporting decorative chimney pots. Sagres is the place where Prince Henry the Navigator built his School of Navigation, and it was from here that his sailors set out to explore the world. The windblown Cape St Vincent, with its 200-foot-high cliffs facing the Atlantic, lies at the extreme southwest of Europe. Before returning to the yacht, you will have a photo stop at Baleeira Viewpoint where there are excellent views over the Algarve Coastal areas and its beaches.

From Portimao harbor you’ll take a drive to Quinta dos Vales, a park center that is home to one of the leading wine producers in the up and coming Algarve wine market. Here, you’ll enjoy a tour of the winery and a wine tasting. Afterwards, your drive will continue to Silves, the former Moorish capital of the province of Algarve, which was known as Xelbe by the Moors. The town’s two most visible buildings, its red sandstone Castle and the red and white Cathedral, are reminders that in medieval times this was the most strongly fortified and most strenuously fought over place in the Algarve. You will have an open-air guided walk through Silves before returning to your ship.

Please note: This tour involves walking over some uneven and cobblestone ground, including steps. Flat comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Passengers are advised to exercise caution at Silves Castle as not all areas have handrails. As coaches are no longer permitted in Silves, there will be a minibus shuttle service to take you up to the historical center. Cádiz is the Iberian Peninsula’s oldest continuously inhabited city and lies on a narrow spit of land, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. Your guided stroll begins at Plaza de España, near the port. In common with most other Cádiz squares, the nearby Plaza de la Mina was formerly a large vegetable garden belonging to the San Francisco Convent. You will pass the Museum, and stroll on to Calle Ancha (Wide Street), where you will see several handsome 19th century palaces. Nearby, San Juan de Dios Square is protected by seawalls and features a unique marble fountain. But perhaps the Town Hall is the building that best reflects the grace and style of the city. After a 40-minute visit to the interior of the impressive Cádiz Cathedral, you will walk back to the ship.

You will board the motor coach for the 30-minute drive to Cap Spartel, one of the promontories projecting into the waters of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea. It is unique in that it is also covered with rock-roses and cork-oaks. From here, you will drive to the town of Asilah, which is situated approximately 1 hour from Tangier on the northwestern tip of Morocco’s Atlantic coast. Throughout history, the small coastal city of Asilah has been coveted by both Portugal and Spain. The city is well known for its enormous cultural and artistic contribution to Morocco’s history. Every summer, the International Festival of Asilah attracts thousands of people from all over the world. Upon arrival in the town, we stop at Asilah Golf Club for refreshments. Then you will take a walk through the old town with its narrow streets to learn about Asilah’s fascinating history. Time will then be spent exploring this beautiful seaside resort. After visiting this gorgeous city, you will return back to Tangier for a shopping stop before re-joining the ship.

It is an interesting mix of North Africa, Spanish, and French cultures. You will have a 2-hour drive via Cap Malabata and Tetouan toward Chefchaouen for some sightseeing. You will start your tour with the inside visit of the Old Kasbah in the medina. The Kasbah of Chefchaouen was built in the early 18th century by the legendary ruler Moulay Ismail. It is fairly simple without architectural surprises however it is surrounded by gardens on the interior and exterior. Inside the Kasbah, you can visit the ethnographic museum containing antique weapons, musical instruments, and photographs of the old town. You will explore the blue-washed town (old medina) by foot along with your guide who will share stories of Chefchaouen’s history. Located approximately 19 miles (30 km) north of Malaga in the direction of Antequera, El Torcal Natural Reserve is home to some of the most beautiful and impressive karstic limestone landscapes in Europe. One hundred million years ago, the whole area was below sea level. Then, the Earth crust's violent movements forced the land upward into hills and mountains. The limestone still kept its layered horizontal formation. Beacuse of this, over the course of time, the rain and the wind have been able to chisel away at these layers to form incredible shapes. Just a few kilometers from the Port of Cartagena, this beautiful hacienda will delight you with the magnificent steeds of the ranch, pure Spanish-bred horses with fine bloodlines and a graceful appearance. You will have the special opportunity meet the family and ask them questions. These carefully bred horses are sent to horse lovers all over the world. From the quayside travel north to the border between this small colony and Spain. View this remarkable border and the Spanish mainland beyond. Proceed along the outskirts of town, passing the American War Memorial and The Trafalgar Cemetery to arrive at Europa Point. From this vantage point you can admire views of the coast of North Africa, 12 miles across the famous Straits of Gibraltar. You will appreciate why this territory was and continues to be of such strategic importance to the British Navy. Your tour will then take you on to Rooke’s Battery, a now derelict artillery battery on the west side of the Rock of Gibraltar. The Battery has a plaque labelled ‘1906’ and is named after Sir George Rooke who commanded the British Fleet when Gibraltar came under British Rule. Move on to the nearby Windsor Suspension Bridge. One of Gibraltar’s newest tourist attractions, it is not for the faint hearted. This spectacular feat of engineering is 233 feet (71 meters) in length, across a 164-foot (50-meter)-deep gorge, affording magnificent views across the bay and city of Gibraltar. The Rock’s Apes spring to mind at the mention of the Rock of Gibraltar and here is where your next stop will take you. You will take a short walk down to King Charles V Wall, better known as ‘Ape’s Den’ which seems to be a usual habitat of the apes, which are indeed a breed of tailless monkeys (Macaca Sylvanus), that roam free on the rocky slopes. They are endearing creatures with a penchant for handbags to say nothing of cameras and hats. Reboard your bus, which will take you on a short drive to Princess Caroline’s Battery, a former artillery battery located at the northern end of the Gibraltar Nature Reserve. It was constructed in 1732 and named after the third daughter of King George II. You will be transferred to the City Hall, to visit the Mayor’s Parlour and enjoy some cold canapes and beverages. You will then be given some time to roam the building in its entirety including the National Art Gallery. Have your cameras ready as you are allowed to take photos of all the works of art which are on display. Who knows, if you are lucky, you might even run into His Worship the Mayor of Gibraltar and get a chance to have a chat with him and even take a photo with him. You will once again board your motorcoach and be transferred back to the yacht.

Your cable car will take you to the Top Station perched on the summit of “The Rock,” for a breathtaking view as you are suspended in mid-air. Board your air-conditioned bus for the 45-minute trip to Valença do Minho, a walled town located on the left bank of the Minho River. Your walking tour will take you past Gothic and Renaissance residences, and offer superb views of the quiet Minho River which you will cross. On the other side of the river stands the Spanish town of Tui with its Cathedral built on top of a small hill. See Valença's fortress, a piece of Gothic and Baroque military architecture. The first walls were built in the 13th century. It was upgraded during the 17th and 18th centuries forming the present bulwarked system, placed on top of two small hills and formed by two polygons which are separated by a ditch and with four doors (Coroada, Gaviarra, Fonte da Vila and Sol). The main entrance is Porta do Sol (Sun's door). Within the fort is the old town full of small shops selling items, particularly textiles, which you will have time to browse through. For those of you who have a special taste for wine, this tour will take you to the heart of Galician wines.You will board your deluxe motor coach for the 45-minute drive to Cambados, considered a Property of Cultural Interest. Santiago, the city where, according to a legend, the remains of the apostle Saint James were found is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Board your motor coach where you will meet your guide who will impart some of the region's history on your 75-minute drive to Santiago. Once in Santiago, your walking tour will begin. You’ll see a town full of life, with one of the most famous universities, a reputation for the best seafood in Galicia and an enormous amount of culture. You will enter the Cathedral of Santiago. The present building was begun in 1075. It is a key Romanesque work in which numerous architectonic styles converge. Highlights of the Cathedral include the Portico de la Gloria constructed in 1188, the Obradoiro façade of the Cathedral ,considered one of the greatest expressions of the Spanish Baroque period., the Main Altar also in the Baroque style and the crypt of the Apostle St. James located beneath it. Following your visit to the Cathedral, you will walk through the quiet streets and picturesque squares of Santiago, admiring the Plaza del Obradoiro, the real heart of the town and where the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos, a 17th century building declared National Monument, is located. You will also see the Palacio Rajoy, an enormous and elegant neoclassic building near the Cathedral. A 4-course lunch with wine will be served at Parador Reyes Catolicos situated near the Cathedral and also declared a National Monument. Following lunch, you will be shown how a queimada is made including the spell and lighting of the liquid by the wizard. Lugo is the only city in the world surrounded completely by intact Roman walls, with heights ranging between 33 to 49 feet in a 6949-foot circle with 71 towers. The walk along the top is continuous around the circuit, and features 10 gates. These 3rd century walls are protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. YYou will depart by motor coach from the pier for both a panoramic drive and walking tour of the UNESCO-classified city of Bordeaux.
