Board an air-conditioned vehicle for a 15-minute ride to Rockland Estate where the most breathtaking, awe-inspiring, 360 degree views await you. After check-in and signing a waiver, you will first visit the Emilio Wilson Museum, which is located in the restored plantation house originally built in the 1700s. You will be on your own to browse the museum which tells the powerful story of Trace Wilson, who was born into slavery on the property in 1818 and her direct descendant Emilio Wilson. You will see depictions of what life was like on a Caribbean plantation and learn about the customs, traditions, lifestyle and stories that earned Sint Maarten the nickname ‘The Friendly Island.' As the Soualiga Sky Explorer ascends, you will experience the landscape unfolding below until you reach the top of St. Maarten’s highest mountain, an elevation of 1,125 feet. From here you will have a 360-degree spectacular view over the island, as well as over neighboring islands, Saba, St. Barth, St. Eustatius and Anguilla. This chair lift spans 2,997 ft, so enjoy your leisurely ride over the vegetation below. Once on the top of Sentry Hill, you will find platforms that give you the perfect vantage point for taking your photos and for enjoying the simply amazing view. After descending back into the park, you will then have some free time to visit the gift shop, buy your photos or a refreshment, until it is time to meet up with the group at the pre-determined time and location and return to the Port.
Please note: Bring money and/or credit cards if you would like to purchase something in the gift shop or get a refreshment at the restaurant. Sunscreen, hats, closed-toe shoes are recommended. All children must be accompanied by an adult and able to sit on their own.
