Founded in 1371, the temple has a rich history linked to the legendary monk Sumana Thera, who brought a holy relic to Chiang Mai. Part of the relic was enshrined at Wat Suan Dok, while another part was placed at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Next, explore Wat Phra Sing, built in 1345 on Sam Lan Road. This revered temple is home to Phra Phuttha Sihing, a Chiang Sean-style Buddha statue, enshrined in the beautifully crafted Vihan Lai Kham. During the Songkran festival in April, the statue is paraded around the town, where locals bath it with scented water for good luck.
