From the port, a short motor coach ride will take you to the train station. You will board the old fashioned electric train for Soller. Learn all about this old fashioned electric train that has preserved its traditional character for almost 100 years. You will be passing almond and locust-bean trees, groves of olive trees and the lush and pine covered mountains. Arrive in Soller and take a walking tour around this charming village before returning to your yacht. There are three main caves, Cueva Negra (Black Cave), Cueva Blanca (White Cave) and Cueva Luis Salvator, at the end of which is a place called La Ventana (the window). This tour will offer the opportunity to visit several archaeological sites of the Talayotic culture of Menorca , a candidate to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2021. The chosen archaeological sites are set in very well preserved rural and natural environments , currently managed as farms. The first visit will be in the prehistoric village of Cornia Nou, located near Mahón city. Different talayots -like towers- and temples were built on a little hill. You will have the opportunity to see several monuments ranging from the Bronze Age to the Romanization of the island. You will make a stop in a local cafeteria to have a snack. Then, visit the site of Rafal Rubí (Alaior), an emblematic bronze age funerary monument, unique of the island of Menorca. Depart the pier for the approximately 20-minute drive through the fertile north countryside to the fishing village of Fornells a picturesque fishing village, set on a magnificent bay of the same name. An important harbor in days gone by for ships to take shelter from the strong north winds, today this village is now a pleasure ground for watersports which include windsurfing, kayaking and sailing. Fornells is also very well known locally for its fish restaurants and the King of Spain is among the many famous people who come here to eat the Menorcan Caldereta, a dish based on local lobster. Your tour will continue to the largest sandy beach on the island, Son Bou Beach which backs onto the open countryside and is relatively undisturbed in terms of modern development. However, there are still some hotels, holiday complexes, a few shops, bars, restaurants, and a discotheque nearby. Upon arrival, a brief photo stop will be made at this scenic locale. Your journey from Bastia will lead inland to Oletta - a small village terraced up the hillside, and from where there is a lovely view of Saint Florent and over the countryside of olive groves, vineyards, and pastures - small squares of property delimited by dry stone walls. Then the road climbs up to the San Stefano Pass, through chestnut and olive groves, and from there is a spectacular panorama down to the east coast and the Biguglia "étang" (pool) and in the other direction, across the Agriates Desert and the sea at Saint Florent. You will climb a sinuous, narrow road, up to the Teghime Pass, where at an altitude of 1,759 feet ( 536M), the views are completely different in each direction . To the West: over extensive vineyards right to the gulf of Saint Florent. To the South: across mountains and valleys towards the chestnut forests of the Castagniccia. The East: past Bastia and the sea leading to Italy. Finally North: the mountainous backbone of the Cap Corse. The road turns and twists its way down to Patrimonio, offering picturesque views background. Patrimonio village is dominated by its church and high steeple (built in 1749). The drive cuts through the center of the island continuing along the coast to reach the upscale resort town of Marciana Marina and then into the hills to reach the cable car station. Meanwhile, enjoy the beautiful scenery down to the coastline and the surrounding hilltop villages. During the drive you'll learn about the history of the island, the culture and the local nature. Upon arrival at the station, you will have a brief safety briefing and then board your basket (2 people per basket) for the top.
